On Thursday, 21st May we were pleased to host the Youth Careers Collaborative and Oracle Health, who ran a workshop for years 12 students on Digital careers with the NHS.
The workshop not only provided information about technology-based careers in the NHS, with insight provided by professional volunteers; it was also interactive and gave students an opportunity to further develop work-related skills.
Here’s what one student had to say about the event:
‘I found the workshop helpful as it helped me gain an understanding about the different fields within STEM careers and that professionals often change their career direction. Therefore, there’s a big focus on transferrable skills.’ – Ayesha, y12.
The workshop was the 1st in a series of events being organised by the Youth Careers Collaborative. In June, a group of students will be visiting Queens Hospital for an insight day led by Oracle Health and later in July, these students will benefit from some one-to-one mentoring from a professional mentor to support them with their post-18 progression plans.
We are grateful to the Youth Careers Collaborative for providing this opportunity for our students and we look forward to future projects.
